The department is seeking a capable, enthusiastic and motivated doctor who enjoys working across both a District General Hospital and tertiary referral setting, and who is committed to improving outcomes and experiences for women, birthing people and their families.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic maternity service providing care for approximately 7,500 women per year across the Trust. The service delivers comprehensive general obstetric care alongside highly specialised tertiary referral services in fetal medicine and maternal medicine, supported by a Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit. This combination provides a uniquely rewarding clinical environment, with opportunities to care for women across the full spectrum of obstetric complexity.
You will provide high-quality general obstetric care, including running antenatal clinics and contributing to safe intrapartum and emergency obstetric care through participation in the consultant on-call rota. The role offers the opportunity to develop continuity of care whilst also managing complex maternal and fetal conditions within a busy tertiary centre. Maintaining high standards of care both in and out of hours will be central to the role.
The postholder will play an active role in the education and supervision of resident doctors, medical students and midwifery colleagues, and will be encouraged to participate in clinical governance, audit, research and ongoing quality improvement initiatives’.
Main duties of the role include:
The post holder will undertake obstetric on-call duties of no more frequent than 1:9, currently 1:16 with internalcover (equivalent to 1:12.8 in the worked year). The out of hours on call attracts a supplement paid at Band A.
