The role:
The main objective of the MDT coordinator is to facilitate a clinically appropriate and timely pathway for cancer or suspected cancer patients. The postholder is responsible for the efficient running of multidisciplinary team meetings for the speciality and ensuring patients progress through the pathway promptly. This includes organising meetings, ensuring all required documentation is available for treatment decisionmaking, recording meeting outcomes, and coordinating the patient pathway.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
Full-time, Permanent
Base location: Glasgow Royal Infirmary
Shift Pattern: Standard office hours (7.45 am start required on some days)
Key responsibilities:
Organising multidisciplinary team meetings.
Ensuring all necessary clinical documentation is available for decisionmaking.
Recording outcomes and decisions made during MDT meetings.
Coordinating and monitoring patient progress through cancer pathways.
Supporting a clinically appropriate and timely patient journey.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Further qualification in administration or equivalent experience.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office systems.
Excellent keyboard skills.
Extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of cancer pathways and terminology.
Ability to work flexibly and independently.
Knowledge or experience of information systems used within GG&C.
Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
