Job Summary

The successful applicant will be working as part of the Officer Processing team, where they will support Recruiting Operations. This Administrative Officer role is responsible for managing the recruitment process of selected candidates, to ensure they meet their prescribed Phase 1 training intakes.

Job Description

Duties will include-

• Administering the recruitment process of selected candidates to meet Phase 1 training intakes.
• Allocation to pre-intake and Phase 1 training courses and resolving eligibility issues, including medicals, nationality, and residency.
• Liaison with all stakeholders to meet intake dates.
• Processing of RAF sponsorship candidates, including issuing provisional offers of sponsorship, ensuring that all clearances have been received prior to authorising payments or entering Modularised Initial Officer Training course (MIOT)/Specialist Officers Initial Training Course (SOITC).
• Initiation and management of required Security and DBS clearances via the UKSV portal.
• Compilation of RAF enlistment paperwork for all new entrants for MIOTC and SOITC.
• Preparation of course lists and the regular updating of the Strategic Defence Brief to reflect current training data.
• Undertake the Recruitment IT System (RITS) training course and complete mandatory training.
• Responding to candidate enquiries via recruitment system, providing timely, accurate guidance as required.
• Informing RAF Career Managers of Enlisted Aviator selections, to facilitate the initiation of assignment orders.
• Action any further tasks, appropriate for grade, on an ad-hoc basis as directed by the chain of command.

Person specification

Being organised and having good interpersonal skills are highly desirable characteristics, as it will greatly assist with the daily tasks involved in this role. Most tasks will have a computer-based aspect, having a good knowledge of using common Microsoft applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word) would be beneficial. However, some applications may be unfamiliar, so it is expected that orientation and internal training will be required to become fully established in the role. This role requires regular interaction with candidates and internal departments through various channels including phone, email, and Teams, therefore, strong customer service skills are essential.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and working from home as part of a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement. All office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to site capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD workplace, will also count towards this level of office attendance.
