Job responsibilities

• Assist and support the Clinical Manager in thesafe and effective management of the serviceincluding management of staff, facilities andassociated systems and processes.
• Communicate all relevant information to themultidisciplinary team internally and with externalorganisations as required, to ensure seamlesscare
• Acts as a role model presenting a positive imageof self, the team and the organisation.
• Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordinationof care, making optimal use of operatingsessions. Identify potential bottlenecks andfacilitate smooth patient flow through thedepartment.
• Ensure a high standard of service delivery isdelivered by self and others based on assessment,planning, implementation and evaluation of care tomeet patients needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards and evidence basedguidelines.
• Set, monitor and maintain standards of care toimprove the patient experience and outcome of care.
• Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety,conforming to health, safety and security legislation,policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Communicate all relevant information to themultidisciplinary team internally and with externalorganisations as required, to ensure seamless care
• Promote provision of patient education and healthpromotion
• Promote equality in care and practice by recognising,respecting and meeting the needs and choices ofindividuals

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

• Awareness of changes in practice and the ability to implement change.
• Knowledge of Clinical Governance and the relevance to practice
• Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
• Knowledge of escalation and cancellation processes

Desirable

• Knowledge of ethical issues
• Knowledge of Leadership and Management
• Research and Development
• Experience of budgetary management

Qualifications and Education

Essential

• Registered nurse / ODP with current NMC/ HCPC registration
• Evidence of current and continuing professional development
• Extensive experience in Scrub
• Mentorship qualification or willingness to work towards following 12 months commencement in post.

Desirable

• Degree in related health care area
• Level 3 ILM (Institute of leadership and Management) or equivalent.
• Core people management skill
